At Ecologi we are driven by one question: where can we have the greatest impact on the climate and nature crisis, at the speed and pace that science demands? and our Impact Report 2025 gives evidence of how we set out to achieve this goal last year.
This year’s report covers two kinds of impact: how we manage and reduce our own footprint (our operational impact), and how we help thousands of organisations cut emissions and fund restoration (our catalytic impact).
The report also includes updates from us on our own Science-Based Targets, as well as updated stats – up to the end of 2025 – on emissions under management, and trees and tonnes funded by our clients.
In this article we’ve highlighted just a few of the incredible stats from last year.

Reducing our emissions
We measured our emissions using the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and our own platform, Ecologi Zero. Our 2025 inventory also includes the emissions of Net Zero Now, which we acquired in February 2025.
Scopes 1 and 2: 0 tCO₂e
Scope 3 (operational): 354 tCO₂e
Scope 3 (projects): 29,361 tCO₂e
Gross emissions, all scopes: 29,715 tCO₂e
For 2025 we changed how we calculate project emissions vs. previous years. Instead of applying a spend-based factor to projects we’ve funded, we used available supplier footprints, project design documents and life-cycle assessments to calculate proxy footprints per unit of restoration funding. Under this methodology, project emissions make up over 99% of the footprint. This is a new baseline, so the figure is not comparable with previous years, and we intend to continue refining this methodology with more accurate data from our suppliers over time, which will involve further revision of this elusive figure.
Targets
In our newly-validated near-term Science-Based Targets, we commit to keeping Scope 1 and 2 emissions at zero through 2030, and to measuring and reducing Scope 3 emissions from a 2025 base year. Our near-term target was validated by the SBTi in June 2026. Our net-zero target is currently still pending validation.
Actions
The first phase of our operational roadmap has five initiatives covering 75% of operational emissions: tackling supplier-specific data for advertising, IT and licences; halving international travel by 2030; no petrol or diesel car expense claims by 2030; a lower-carbon hotel policy; and decarbonising home working. For project emissions, we will collect activity data from partners and support their decarbonisation plans, to support a roadmap to lower-carbon delivery of the projects we fund.
Restoring our planet
For our own contribution to mitigation beyond our value chain, we set an internal carbon price of £25 per tonne of CO₂e and applied it to our 354 tCO₂e of operational emissions to produce a contribution budget of £8,850. We used the budget in two ways:
Covering 100% of our operational footprint with credits consistent with the Oxford Principles for Net Zero Aligned Carbon Offsetting:
Manoa REDD+ in Brazil (236 tCO₂e)
Reforesting the Land of the Jaguar in Mexico (110 tCO₂e)
Biochar production in India (8 tCO₂e).
Funding restoration of the Atlantic Forest in Brazil with the remainder, planting 1,340 trees in Minas Gerais with our partner Iniciativa Verde.

In November 2025, the Ecologi team travelled to the Amazon Rainforest in Rondônia, Brazil, to visit the Manoa REDD+ project - one of the world’s most highly regarded forest protection initiatives. By keeping the forest standing, the project generates carbon credits that not only prevent emissions, but also fund vital community initiatives, including local schools.

Supporting our clients to reduce their emissions
Every credible climate journey starts with understanding and reducing the emissions a business is responsible for.
Ecologi Zero, our hybrid carbon accounting product, pairs our proprietary software with hands-on support from our carbon accounting specialists. It helps businesses measure their footprint, prioritise reductions, set credible targets and take responsibility for the emissions they cannot yet avoid.

In February 2025 we acquired Net Zero Now and moved approximately one hundred customers onto Ecologi Zero, consolidating two businesses onto a single platform. We also expanded into decarbonisation modelling, which builds forward-looking reduction pathways from a client's baseline year, and into support for businesses preparing submissions to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
At the end of 2025, we had 889,058 tCO₂e under management on Ecologi Zero and we delivered over 65 client emissions reports.
Supporting our clients to fund restoration
Through Ecologi, our clients fund carbon projects and nature restoration to take responsibility for the emissions they cannot yet avoid.
In 2025 our clients funded over 630,000 tCO₂e of emissions avoidance, including cookstove projects we assessed on site in Kenya and Uganda, as well as over 44,000 tCO₂e of carbon removal. Biochar was a growing part of our removals portfolio, with projects in Surrey and Wales and a large community-led project in Gujarat, India.
Beyond carbon, our projects collectively supported over 227,000 livelihoods, an incredible achievement.

On the nature side, clients funded around 7.5 million more trees and a growing set of habitat restoration projects, including new seagrass and peatland projects in the UK. Together, these projects supported livelihoods in the communities where they operate. We also reached 47,347 m² of habitat funded for restoration.

Our Project Assessment Frameworks
In 2025 we published our Carbon Projects Assessment Framework (CPAF), which assesses every carbon project at standard, methodology and project level. Each project is scored on its contributions to climate, nature and people. Only projects with a final score of at least 80 are eligible for funding through Ecologi. In 2025 we assessed 32 projects and approved 10 new ones.
Version 2 of the CPAF was published in mid-2026, and we also published our Nature Projects Assessment Framework (NPAF) in 2026 for philanthropic projects.
In 2025, we began funding new projects here in the UK – seagrass restoration with Project Seagrass (90 m² restored since launch) and peatland restoration with Moors for the Future (over 20,000 m² funded to date).
Thank you
We are grateful to the many partners and clients who continue to support our work.
Their commitment to climate action enables us to build out our service – to build our tools, to hire and train our consultant team, to find and fund world-leading climate and nature projects around the world. We are grateful for the community we have built which provides such shared hope, vision and collective action – even during periods when the wider landscape for climate action feels uncertain.
The continued support, effort, and endorsement of our project partners, technical advisors, and the communities working on the ground is fundamental to the impact we are able to achieve together.
