Trust in the quality of our products is core to our offering at Ecologi, which is why we’ve chosen to utilise Sylvera’s carbon credit ratings to add an additional layer of scrutiny to the projects we support. Sylvera is the leading carbon intelligence platform for voluntary carbon markets. 
It helps corporations, traders and exchanges discover the high quality carbon credits. Sylvera’s team of experts uses their own proprietary data, machine learning technology and market intelligence to produce independent, in-depth and accessible insights on a wide range of projects around the world. 
Sylvera communicates its findings by rating projects on a scale of AAA to D (AAA being the highest rating and D being the lowest). A Sylvera rating is an indication of the likelihood that the claimed carbon impact of a project is a true representation of its real impact.
A project’s rating is informed by three core elements: a carbon accounting score, an additionality score and a permanence score. The scores are layered together through matrices to determine the overall Sylvera carbon rating. Besides making use of cutting-edge technology and its expert analysis, what makes Sylvera unique is that they also assess the co-benefits that a project can provide. Co-benefits are the additional benefits the project brings to local communities and the environment beyond carbon reduction or removal. Although co-benefits are not factored into the overall score of a project, it’s a key indicator to offer insight as to what the project can offer beyond its carbon offsetting.
Alongside a clear rating, Sylvera also provides all the underlying analysis used to arrive at its rating, as well as supplying extensive commentary about the carbon project and credits analysed. Sylvera’s reports are unparalleled in their level of depth and accuracy, which is why we’ve decided to work with them as part of our project offering.

Including Sylvera’s intelligence in our internal processes will help to boost and streamline our due diligence ahead of supporting carbon projects. By providing a thorough, trusted rating system, our collaboration with Sylvera will give us even greater confidence in supporting only the highest-quality carbon projects. 
Some of our carbon reduction projects have already been analysed by Sylvera, but our main focus with Sylvera moving forward will be the assessment of new carbon reduction projects that we intend to bring to our Climate Marketplace. We’ll be sure to keep you informed about the outcomes of the assessments, as well as what each rating means.
